This week, the vast Kalahari skies staged a thrilling raptor moment. A Pale Chanting Goshawk sat tall on a thorn tree, its sharp gaze sweeping the plains for breakfast, when a flash of silver and white—a Black-shouldered Kite—sliced through the air.

The Goshawk stiffened instantly, wings lifting in a silent warning: This is my branch—back off. But the Kite was already a memory, streaking away on its own restless hunt. Two hunters of the same skies—one patient and deliberate, the other a fleeting blur of speed.
