Lion

During the evening game drive, we took the road via the airstrip, where we spotted an impala ram standing alert, scanning the surroundings. From there, we continued through Haina Pan in the hope of finding more activity.
At a waterhole, we observed a Yellow-billed Kite perched atop an Umbrella Thorn. As we watched the bird, the distant sound of roaring drifted in from the south. Following it, we soon came upon a male lion resting squarely in the middle of the road.
After a few minutes, the lion rose and began making his way towards the airstrip. Male lions often roar to advertise their presence, communicate with pride members, or warn rival males that the territory is occupied.
We later located him on the open stretch of the airstrip, where he paused to defecate—a common behaviour used to reinforce territorial boundaries through scent.
