Our guests enjoyed a relaxed and enriching safari drive that combined iconic large mammals with a notable birding highlight. From towering giraffes to a Groundscraper Thrush moving quietly through the bush, the sightings captured the true rhythm of the Kalahari—open, calm, and rewarding for attentive observers.

Two giraffes were encountered standing alert in the open Kalahari bush, their tall silhouettes framed against a clear blue sky. Calm and observant, they allowed guests time to appreciate their striking coat patterns and graceful presence—a classic Kalahari scene.

A rewarding birding sighting followed, with a Groundscraper Thrush observed at close range. The bird displayed its distinctive black-and-white facial markings, grey-brown plumage, and strong bill. Seen alert at ground level, it reflected the Kalahari’s understated birdlife, often heard before it is seen.
