Southern Yellow-billed Hornbill
Sighted on: 20.February.2024
During our morning game drive, we witnessed Southern Yellow-billed Hornbills perched on the canopy of a Paper Bark Acacia tree, possibly engaged in sunbathing. Both male and female called with wings outstretched, suggesting communication or bonding. The male, after taking off, returned with an Armoured Ground Cricket and shared it with the female. This observation underscores the cooperative reproductive behaviour of hornbills, emphasizing the male's supportive role in the female's well-being, particularly during nesting or breeding seasons.
