January 2024 - Week 2 Roundup

Black-backed jackal

Sighted on: 10.January.2024

Lioness

We saw a pair of Black-backed jackals resting during our evening game drive. A Black-backed jackal's daily routine revolves around strategically resting in the vast open plains of the Kalahari. This crucial activity serves multiple purposes, including energy conservation, predator avoidance, recovery from physical exertion, digestion facilitation, and preparation for upcoming activities like hunting and scavenging. Resting also aids in temperature regulation, ensuring the jackal remains responsive and alert when needed.
