African Rock Python

Patterns of the African Rock Python: Beautifully camouflaged among the branches of a Purple Pod Terminalia, the intricate patterns of the African rock python blend seamlessly with the bark and dappled light.
These striking markings provide excellent camouflage, allowing this powerful, non-venomous predator to remain almost invisible as it rests.

Giraffe

Today we witnessed one of the fascinating chewing techniques of a giraffe. As a ruminant, it uses a side-to-side chewing motion, known as lateral mastication, to crush and grind its cud thoroughly before swallowing it again.
This efficient process helps break down tough, fibrous leaves and maximizes nutrient absorption. All the while, this beautiful giraffe paused to pose perfectly for the camera.

Oryx

Sunday Pan, CKGR
At the height of the Kalahari heat, one of Africa's most iconic antelopes, the magnificent gemsbok (Oryx), stood perfectly still at the Sunday Pan waterhole while another cooled off in the muddy water behind it.
The striking black-and-white facial markings, long spear-like horns, and calm posture made for a truly memorable moment.
A day trip into the Central Kalahari Game Reserve always has something special to offer.

Steenbok

Steenbok's Mineral Stop at a Termite Mound.
In the heat of the day in the Central Kalahari Game Reserve, we encountered a curious Steenbok taking advantage of the minerals found on a termite mound.
It paused to lick the mound repeatedly, a behaviour often seen as animals seek essential salts and trace minerals that are scarce in the dry Kalahari environment.

Greater Kudu

Days on safari are never the same. Sometimes the best wildlife experiences come right from the lodge.
From this unique viewing deck overlooking the waterhole, our guests enjoyed watching a herd of greater kudu antelopes arrive to quench their thirst.
Offering excellent photographic opportunities and a mark that nature's beauty can be appreciated without even leaving the lodge.
