Zebra

Sighted on: 17.June.2025

Lioness protecting a cub from an unknown male

This afternoon, while we were enjoying lunch out on the deck, a small herd of zebras gracefully approached the lodge waterhole from the golden Kalahari grasslands. It was a serene and beautiful moment, as they drank peacefully under the warm sun.

One particular zebra drew our attention — it kept shaking its head and flicking its tail. Through the binoculars, we observed it trying to rid itself of bot flies, which are known to lay eggs inside the nostrils and beneath the tail.

This simple yet intimate moment reminded us that even in stillness, the wild tells its story — one of daily survival, instinct, and resilience.
