Southern Giraffe & Burchell's Zebra
Sighted on: 15.May.2026

We observed a journey of giraffe moving in loose association with a dazzle of zebra across the scrubland. In the open Kalahari landscape, this represents a tactical survival alliance. The giraffe acts as a "watchtower," using its height to scan for predators over the Acacia line, while the zebras utilize their acute hearing and smell to monitor ground-level threats. This synergy allows both species to forage more effectively with shared vigilance.

Impala
Sighted on: 14.May.2026

Two mature males were caught in a high-energy wrestling match, locking their S-shaped horns to test each other’s strength. This behavior is a critical part of the social hierarchy, determining dominance and access to breeding herds within the ecosystem.

Bat - eared Fox
Sighted on: 13.May.2026

A group was seen utilizing their massive, radar-like ears to detect subterranean vibrations. They exhibited sudden stops and rapid digging to pinpoint and extract harvester termites from beneath the sand before the morning heat intensified.

Temminck's Courser
Sighted on: 12.May.2026

This bird was spotted navigating the sparsely vegetated patches of the Kalahari, using its upright posture to scan for ground movement. It demonstrated a classic "run-and-stop" technique, darting across the cracked earth with high speed to intercept prey.

Kori Bustard
Sighted on: 11.May.2026

During the game drive we observed a Kori Bustard methodically foraging through the scrub. It was striking at and consuming large insects likely grasshoppers or locusts using slow, deliberate strides to get within range before delivering a lightning-fast peck. This individual also displayed typical "gaping" behavior, keeping its beak open to regulate its temperature while moving through the sun.
