Trumpet Thorn

During the game drive this week, we were treated to a welcome sight - the flowers of the Trumpet Thorn. As we enter the green season in the Kalahari, the Trumpet Thorn tree has started to flower; its lovely white flowers add a touch of surreal beauty to the landscape. Unlike many plant species, the Trumpet Thorn does very well in the harsh conditions of the Kalahari. It can also be found in the hot and arid regions of Namibia, the Northern Cape, Western Zimbabwe and Limpopo. As the Trumpet Thorn flowers during the green season, they are a welcome sight in the Kalahari.
