Oryx
Sighted on: 26.November.2024
The highlight of the week was the sighting of an oryx. A Kalahari specialist, also known as the gemsbok, they can be skittish, often offering only a fleeting glimpse in thick cover. This time, even though it was in dense vegetation, it gave us a good show — from its hindquarters to the unique, long, straight, nearly upright horns — along with a pause from feeding. As a professional guide, I am always scanning, searching, and keeping an eye on my surroundings to spot animals for our guests. Spotting an animal in thick bush is a very satisfying experience and one that never fails to impress our guests.
