Elephants

Sighted on: 19.November.2025

The highlight of the week was the presence of elephants on the reserve. A solitary bull emerged from the Kalahari bushes — trunk lifted to analyse the scents in the air, feet steady as he read the vibrations through the ground, and ears raised to catch even the faintest sounds.

This part of the Kalahari, where we are based, often attracts elephants during the rainy season. My guests exclaimed, ‘Ohh! It’s a giant bull!’ — and indeed, the broad forehead said it all.
