Lioness protecting a cub from an unknown male

A well-camouflaged lizard was the object of fascination for our safari guests this week, with its survival tactics on full display. Encountering the Kalahari striped skink (Trachylepis spilogaster) in its natural habitat was a captivating experience. Watching this small reptile bask motionless on a tree branch while remaining alert for prey offers insight into its remarkable survival skills. Its agility, speed, and ability to blend seamlessly into its surroundings make it an impressive little predator. Moments like these remind us how even the tiniest creatures in the vast Kalahari have evolved extraordinary adaptations to thrive in such a harsh environment. Observing them up close is a rare treat that brings the wild to life.
