Leopard

Sighted on: 14.October.2025

Lioness protecting a cub from an unknown male

During our afternoon game drive, our tracker spotted fresh leopard tracks on the road and said, “These are very fresh — she isn’t far.” A few metres ahead, we saw impala browsing calmly, unaware of the predator nearby.

Following the tracks carefully for about fifteen metres, we found a beautiful female leopard resting in the shade. Her golden coat blended perfectly with the Kalahari sand and dry grass.

Female leopards are solitary and highly resourceful, surviving in the vast Kalahari by relying on stealth, intelligence, and adaptability. They use bush cover, termite mounds, and dry riverbeds to stalk their prey, hunting mostly at night or during the cooler hours to avoid the harsh sun. Their kills are often cached in thick bush or dragged up trees to keep them safe from scavengers.
