African Elephant

Sighted on: 11.October.2026

A brown hyena stands alert on a sandy path in dry brush, looking toward the camera.

Moving silently despite her impressive size, this matriarch made her way through the dense scrub. Seeing her up close, with her battle-worn tusks and deeply lined hide, really reminds you of the remarkable resilience these giants possess to thrive in such an arid environment.

A gentle afternoon scene as a small group of kudu—a couple of cows accompanied by a young bull—stole down to the water’s edge. You could feel their careful tension; in the dry Kalahari, taking a drink always requires a cautious balance between quenching thirst and watching the surrounding bush for movement.

Caracal

A truly special moment with one of the bush's most elusive hunters. Hidden behind a veil of scrub, this caracal paused just long enough for us to lock eyes through the thickets. Its sleek tawny coat and distinct black ear tufts blended so perfectly into the shadows that if you blinked, you’d miss it.

Spotted Eagle-Owl

Sighted on: 11.October.2026

Sitting high above the landscape on a stark, leafless branch, this spotted eagle-owl kept quiet watch as the day settled. In the vast expanse of the Kalahari, high perches like these offer the perfect vantage point for hunting, allowing them to scan the ground for rodents, reptiles, and insects moving in the grass below.
